Franny's Cup and Saucer

"Franny's Cup & Saucer in Point Arena, CA is our newest bakery crush."

-cakespy.com

Yay, I love this place. The hours suck but the pastries rule. "

"We used Franny for our wedding cake and absolutely loved the result. At first it was her bubbly personality that won us over, but when we went in for a tasting we knew we had made the right decision. At the event she delivered a picture perfect cake that was absolutely delicious.

"Aided by her mother, Barbara, a former pastry chef at Chez Panisse, Franny turns out the best baked goods on the North Coast. Leagues beyond simple pastries, the offers here are sophisticated and inventive."

-Fodor's, Northern California 2008

"Also, be sure to drive into Point Arena and eat at Franny's Cup & Saucer Bakery - it is the best bakery on Earth. I know that's a bold statement - prove me wrong!"

-ceeuawlsune, tripadvisor.com

"This tiny bakery is done up in pink and turquoise like an up-market cupcake. With the help of her mother, Barbara -- who used to run the bakery and worked at Chez Panisse years ago -- Franny Burkey conjures up delicate breakfast pastries and desserts, including the Sarah Bernhardt cookie with a coconut macaroon base and chocolate ganache."

-Stacy Finz, San Francisco Chronicle

"I know - its "All the way up in Point Arena". Well, All I have to say is GET OVER IT!. It's a lovely drive from The Sea Ranch or Gualala and amazingly worth the drive. This is one of ""those"" bakeries that you dream about. Where everything is right. The old standards, croissants, coffee cakes etc are perfect; moist, warm, buttery, light bits of heaven. Imaginative - this woman brings heart and art to her bakery, everthing from outlandishly dreamt up cakes, tarts etc to the sublime. People who live in major metro areas should be so lucky as to have a bakery like this in their back yard. But beware - get there early, as the rest of us locals tend to clean them out early in the day. Truly worth the drive."

"We returned after a two year hiatus and were flippin' happy to see that Franny's was still there, serving THE best, most inventive pastries ever!  Brought the kids and they all loved it.  So much so that we had to return the very next day on our way out (not....more like 30 miles in the other direction!) of town.  More savory items to be had which was a nice treat.  Special teas made it a big hit for me.  So happy that we are so blessed by folks with this 'art'."

"Franny's Cup and Saucer should be cloned; it's a jewel too good for only one location."

"This little bakery is a magical place ..... wonderful sweets (some imported from France, others made on the premises) delicious teas, and a magical feel."

"It is well known that I will drive miles for a good muffin. In this case, I happened to be staying in lovely Point Arena overnight and stumbled upon this cheery little nook on Main Street. Excellent tea selection, espresso drinks, an impeccably cute selection of little toys and, oh, what a blackberry muffin."
